QUEST 1
Vreni’s Very Bad, Not Good At All Morning

  • Objective: Wake up in your parents' house and interact with SOL-DEV. Repair the nearby train terminal to reach the city center.

  • Description: The game begins with Vreni awakening in their parents' house, greeted by a strange, unsettling silence. They’re alone. SOL-DEV, the constant companion AI implant, comes online and offers a warm "rise and shine!" as it activates, with more delay than usual.

    As Vreni walks through the house, they notice it’s untouched, but the absence of life is uncanny. Upon further investigating, the player realizes Vreni is having some issues with their parents.

    Vreni comes up with going to the city center to their parents’ offices, to see if they’re there. SOL-DEV hints at the fact that the train system might not be working. The player needs to fix it to reach the objective of going to the city center.

  • Steps:

    1. Explore the house: Interact with objects to gather context about the situation, such as photos and notes left behind, showing no signs of struggle or chaos, just an ordinary evening disrupted by something.

    2. Fix the train terminal: SOL-DEV gives Vreni a tutorial on how to interact with the city's terminals, providing hints to repair broken components. This teaches the player how to use the game’s core mechanics.

    3. Access the city center: After fixing the terminal, Vreni travels to the city center but notices the lack of people. Use terminal interactions to discover that something has gone terribly wrong.

  • Objective Complete: After Vreni reaches the city center, the train system is still non-functional, and SOL-DEV speculates that the city has been deserted for at least a day. The quest serves to introduce players to the environment and mechanics of the game.

  • Reward:

    • Basic repair tools (opening up new puzzle formats)

QUEST 2
You Miss The Mundane When It’s Gone

  • Objective: Explore the city and speak with terminals to learn more about what happened.

  • Description: Vreni is now aware that the city is empty, but there are still traces of its former life. The terminals scattered around the city contain useful information. Vreni, with SOL-DEV's assistance, learns that something catastrophic has occurred but doesn’t yet know what. Vreni must navigate the desolate city and uncover clues.

  • Steps:

    1. Search through the city: Explore key areas such as abandoned shops, residential buildings, and public spaces. Each place provides more information about the event that led to the city’s desolation.

    2. Use SOL-DEV to interact with terminals: SOL-DEV helps Vreni access the city’s various terminals. Each terminal reveals fragmented information

    3. Discover an anomaly: At a central terminal hub, Vreni uncovers an encrypted file that SOL-DEV can't decode. SOL-DEV hints that something within the city's network might explain what happened.

  • Objective Complete: The quest ends when Vreni encounters their first major clue—a corrupted file that hints at the involvement of Solar Industries, suggesting that the company's actions might be linked to the city’s sudden downfall.

  • Reward:

    • Experience

    • Map update (access to new areas of the city)

    • New dialogue options (with terminals and SOL-DEV)

QUEST 3
You Wish You’d Accepted More Friend Requests and Fought With Your Parents A Lot Less Now, Don’t You?

  • Objective: Trace a signal to locate another living citizen.

  • Description: After piecing together fragmented information, Vreni and SOL-DEV pick up a faint signal coming from a malfunctioning SOL-DEV elsewhere in the city. It’s the first indication of another living person. Vreni must follow the signal and locate the person responsible, hoping they have answers about the city's fate.

  • Steps:

    1. Track the signal: Use SOL-DEV to guide Vreni toward the source of the signal. The signal fluctuates, providing a challenge in navigating the city’s maze of dead terminals and abandoned areas.

    2. Encounters along the way: On the way, Vreni faces minor obstacles like locked doors or malfunctioning devices that hinder progress. SOL-DEV offers guidance, but Vreni will need to solve puzzles to proceed.

    3. Discover Isha: Eventually, Vreni finds Isha, a scientist working for Solar Industries. Isha, although initially cautious and secretive, reveals that she has been hiding out in a secluded part of the city to avoid being tracked by Solar Industries. She is the first person Vreni meets who has any information about the city’s situation.

  • Objective Complete: Isha agrees to help Vreni, though she is still wary of trust. The two begin to exchange information about the city’s collapse and Solar Industries.

  • Reward:

    • New ally (Isha)

    • Access to Isha’s makeshift workbench (can craft new equipment to solve new puzzle types)

    • New abilities (expanded use of SOL-DEV with more complex functions)
